FIRST FRIDAY MASS: You are invited to join with those in the Renewal on the first Friday of each month as we come together to celebrate Mass at 7.30pm, Christ the King Church, 90 Greers Rd, Burnside, followed by supper in the Parish Centre.  Next Mass: Friday 5th October.

INTERNATIONAL THOMAS MERTON SOCIETY: Monday, December 10th marks the fiftieth anniversary of the untimely death of the Trappist monk, Thomas Merton in Bangkok, Thailand. As part of a number of events celebrated worldwide, the Christchurch chapter will hold a commemorative event on the day, starting at 6pm in the evening at the Waimairi Cemetery in 195 Grahams Road, Burnside, where members of the Merton Family are buried. This will be followed by prayer and refreshments in the Narthex at St Mary’s Pro-Cathedral for approximately an hour.  PASTORAL SUPPORT PERSON: The Sisters of Mercy have a part-time vacancy for a person who will support the pastoral care team for five days a week 5 hours per day and on call those days. The purpose of the role is to assist with the pastoral needs of the Sisters of Mercy in Aged Residential Care and with community Sisters as needed.   If you require more information email Lynne;  nursemanager@xtra.co.nz

WILDER: Run by the Catholic Youth Team … BUT an event for ALL AGES!  Adoration, prayer teams and the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  Perfect time out before exams or just a chance to sit with Jesus.  This time we are supporting Our Lady of Victories Parish with their 40 hours of Adoration.  Friday 5th Oct @ OLV Sockburn: Mass at 7pm, Wilder to follow until 9pm.  Delicious supper to follow.  ALL WELCOME

 MASS OF REMEMBRANCE:  Have you or a family member experienced the grief and pain of conceiving, then losing a baby before or at birth? Whether this was recently, or decades ago, we invite you to join us for this year’s Mass of Remembrance on Monday 15th October at 7.30pm at St Teresa’s Parish, Riccarton. PRO-LIFE FACTS There were more than 36,000 written submissions to the Justice Committee, 90 per cent were opposed to euthanasia. Anyone who made a written submission to Parliament’s Justice Committee on the End of Life Choice (Euthanasia) Bill early this year can request to speak to the Committee for up to 5 minutes. OCDS NOVEMBER CARMELITE RETREAT: “Called to holiness with Mary the Mother of Jesus and our Carmelite Saints”. ​

Fr Allan Jones, S.M. will be leading our upcoming November Retreat at Rochester Hall again. Dates are from Friday, 16th Nov (11 am registration) to Sunday 18th Nov (approx 3.30 pm) Show Weekend.
