Two new vacancies:

  • Parish Secretary  – 35 hours a week
  • Coordinator of Pastoral Care – 20 hours a week

The Catholic Parish of Christchurch South includes the areas of Halswell, Hoon Hay, Addington and Beckenham.

Both roles require a special combination of experience, skill, and personal qualities.  Applicants will come from a committed Catholic ministry background, should demonstrate a personal faith commitment, relevant pastoral experience, a high level of personal maturity and judgement, a resilient personality and success in working as part of a Parish Team.

Celebrating “Laudato Si’ Week” – 16th to 24th May

2020 marks the 5th Anniversary Pope Francis’ encyclical: “Laudato Si’ – On Care for our Common Home” (LS). Here is Pope Francis’ YouTube video on this:

   What a difference this encyclical has made! It has put the care for God’s creation as a very important aspect of Catholic Social teachings. Yet it does of course not take away the need to care for the poor and most vulnerable people. The overall theme for the week is “Everything is interconnected”. Pope Francis encourages us to “hear the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor” (49, LS). For this Sunday we offer three quotes from “Laudato Si’” (in the document attached or available at our website:
